If there are questions that are not addressed here, please feel free to contact us, and we will be happy to answer them!
Q: Is my first appointment going to
involve surgery?
A: For the vast majority of patients the answer is no, although
there are rare exceptions when Dr. Ritter chooses to do a procedure
in the office during the first visit. These exceptions are almost
always for small non-melanoma skin cancers, or are
the result of a need for a further biopsy. Most first time
appointments are strictly consultation appointments in order to
determine the proper treatment, and to set up surgery when
necessary.
Q: Can/Should I bring family along for
my first appointment?
A: Dr. Ritter always prefers that patients are
accompanied by either family or friends, and that they are present
when he discusses your particular treatment(s) and your cancers
future ramifications.
Q: Does the melanoma center accept my
insurance?
A: The Melanoma Center of Hope accepts all insurances, even those
for which it is not "in-network" with. Although we will accept and
file to all insurances, we can not guarantee that we are either an
"in-network" or "out-of-network" physician for your particular
carrier and plan, or that your insurance will cover any portion of
your visit and subsequent care. For these reasons we strongly
recommend that you contact your insurance company
before your first appointment with Dr. Ritter. Using the number
located on the back of your insurance card, you can find out not
only our status with your company, but also the exact terms of your
coverage.
